8/31/2023 0 Comments Freedom planet 2 trunks and mai![]() This is not how dragon ball has ever approached its storylines. In fact, I'd bet more people were actually expecting FT to stick around than for him to leave permanently.īesides, in a show that's already under the gun for far more prominent examples of asspulls, it makes no sense to set the litmus test for acceptability on this minor issue as whether or not it passes close scrutiny for a fractionally more sensible alternative course of action. If it was never announced, the alternative plot would have been swallowed just as easily. No one watching the black arc knew FT would be sent back to share the future with a clone of himself until it was announced in the show. These are all trivial points that can be gone over back and forth on, and at the end of the day none of the viewers would think that much into it. Just have the conversation before they leave Earth. Now, if there was no lock-on, then they should have just traveled to before beerus died, and the point on the more plausible narrative is moot.Īs for repairing the pod, if Beerus torches Bulma's notes before it ever occurs to him to mention the idea of sending FT back to the future, or if while assembling fuel for the pod the ToP is announced and Beerus changes his mind on pushing FT away, it could also work out just fine.Īs for Zeno being taken to the palace immediately, that's easy. Regarding the lock-on, I was under the impression this was why the old time machine was linked with FT's timeline, why it always traveled to that exact timeline even though it was no longer in their own future (the "time machine" wasn't actually doing time travel anymore) additionally, it was fixed to a set distance in time into the future (they couldn't travel back 10 days earlier to save future bulma's life or anything). What a single in-universe character thinks is rarely going to be relevant for this reason. When discussing plot direction, all that matters is the writer. None of these are ass pulls or "bad plot telling." There are tons of ways for the writer to approach this. Say Beerus tells FT to get out of that timeline, and future Zeno asks him whether he's also not welcome in the present timeline. Say Zeno is mad about what happened in the future and forbids further time travel. Say the time machine breaks down on its return, or they cannot find a lock-on to the alternate timeline in the past. If it's a bad plot or an ass pull, it's simply poorly executed.īeerus for example is a non-issue. The writer has 100% freedom to make anything (within reason) happen. That has nothing to do with this and isn't how writing works. ![]() One of the songs on your new album, “It’s A Laugh,” is really special and caught my attention right away. I love hearing the crowd roar in response to me simply flipping a page on the chart. It’s more than a gag it’s a powerful way to speak through what feels like very economical subtitles. Live, we employ a flip chart with words and pictures drawn on it to augment the messages of these songs. However, we wanted to make the arrangements percussive enough so you wouldn’t miss the drums. We chose to perform live with a single acoustic guitar and a bass (and zero drums). I wrote these songs a few years after my father died, and we titled it “Grand Marais.” We wore all black, drank obscene amounts of green tea, and even called the band Grand Marais for a short time. It eventually grew into an exuberant song-cycle about depression. We came up with this way to play as a three-piece. Also, when our drummer left, our band had to function with less. Our song “Egypt,” for example, employs an acoustic guitar, a glockenspiel, and some wine glasses-and it is by far a fan favorite. Over the years, we’ve had some pretty minimal moments. And we’ve found that when we are very limited as artists-when we have to make something special out of less-we shine the most. ![]() This album, “Grand Marais,” is an experiment in minimalism. What can you tell us about it? How did you put this collection of songs together? You have an amazing new album that just came out in July. We have been oh-so-good, just coming off the high of a seriously fun mini-tour with The Deathray Davies and Salim Nourallah. ![]() Hi, Erik, welcome to VENTS! How have you been? We chatted about the band’s minimalist sound on the album, the making of “zero-fat” music, and what’s next for this amazing band. Vents Magazine sat down with Sanden to talk about the new album, and we took a dive into the creation of the song “It’s A Laugh,” including its inspiration, and the writing and production process. It’s impeccable and perfect, and we can’t get enough of this amazing record. The band lineup for this new album includes Erik Sanden, Joe Reyes, and Odie. The result is astonishingly intimate while gorgeously luxe in its simplicity, with the lyrics front and center, and the band’s harmonies are given a well-deserved spotlight. On the new outing, “Grand Marais,” they certainly kept the lyrical heft, but the band stripped the music way back, incorporating just guitar, bass, and vocals. Buttercup, an indie-pop outfit out of San Antonio, Texas, is known for its jangly, lyrically-deep creations, music for people who like a heaping helping of smarts in their lyrics. ![]() ![]() ![]() “The revived garden at 25 Cannon St makes a unique contribution to the mosaic of green spaces and gardens around St. “Our vision for the 25 Cannon Street project was to enrich the experience of this neighbourhood, by creating modern new workspaces and adding to the vibrant food & dining scene on Watling Street, while also providing space for people to enjoy the wellbeing benefits of a tranquil garden and encouraging biodiversity in this corner of the City.” “We’re very proud to contribute to the City’s green spaces with our re-imagined Reflection Garden - an important oasis for visitors and the urban community to connect with nature. I'm still not sure when that will happen, but honestly, the idea that this manual you're holding is inside a game case that's part of a collection of retail games on your shelf feels just as exciting to me, and it certainly wouldn't have been possible without the passion and devotion that our fans have for our speedy little platformer. Something else I wondered about was the possibility that someday we would see a game that we created on actual store shelves alongside other games. These were all things I had wondered about since I was a little kid. That very first launch on Steam, the first time I held the Wii U ™ Gamepad and saw our game's icon in the Nintendo eShop, the first time I logged into the store on my Sony PlayStation 4 and was able to search for our game by name, and the first time we went to a convention and finally got to meet our fans in person. There are a few big moments in my time working with the game that I still freshly remember. Plenty of bug reports too, of course! I would spend the rest of the evening polishing things up further for a day one patch, but aside from that, I remember just leaning back in the dining room chair at my sister's place and feeling a wave of relief, as if I had just taken off a heavy pair of shoulder pads after wearing them for days. Within five minutes, we were seeing an avalanche of comments and screenshots that we didn't expect. With the rest of the team cheering me on in the Skype groups we had settled in for the past two years, I pushed the proverbial - and literal, in the case of Steam-works - big green launch button. Our original release date on the 19th had to be pushed back a few days because of a weekend launch not being possible on Steam - the storefront where we would be releasing - but we were honestly thankful for the extra couple of days to make sure everything was ready. It still seemed unreal to us that we had a finished game in our hands, especially since it seemed so far from completion even just a week ago. I had spent most of the day at my sister's house babysitting my toddler niece, and after she came home from work, I decided to spend the evening there ahead of the big moment.
